Arihant Jain — Builder. Seller. Traveler.
I build where technology meets human systems. Design bridges with me.
About
Origins
I grew up watching money move — and disappear. On both sides of my family, there were fortunes built and lost, fast cars and coal mafias, license raj loopholes and late-night deal tables.
I saw early that success isn’t something you own — it’s something you keep in motion. My childhood was a crash course in economic volatility. I learned that wealth is not a static state but a flow. Whether it was the high-stakes negotiations of the coal trade or the intricate dance of regulatory loopholes, the lesson was always the same: agility beats solidity.
The Foundation
At Stanford, I lived through the dot-com crash and the early resurgence. It taught me to look past hype and into fundamentals. My first job was at Google, just after the IPO — a front-row seat to the internet turning into infrastructure.
But it was in the family export business that I really learned to sell. I spent time in factories, freight lanes, and long dinners with buyers. No decks. No jargon. Just product, trust, and rhythm. That blend — of global tech and old-school commerce — still shapes how I work. I learned the tempo of procurement in Lagos, the importance of silence in Tokyo, the second-coffee dance in São Paulo.
Building & Exiting
Later, I went to INSEAD. Since then, I’ve built and exited companies across e-commerce, D2C, health-tech, edtech, and SaaS. We launched an online platform before India’s rails were ready.
Built a consumer brand before “D2C” was a word. I was part of 1mg’s journey through its acquisition by Tata. We sold a chatbot company to Freshworks, where I scaled the bots platform and led international sales — a story that started with decision trees and ended in IPO. I co-founded an edtech company that reimagined learning at work — that was acquired too.
The Future
Today, I’m thinking about how AI will be bought, sold, trusted, and adopted. I work with founders building the future — helping them distribute it well, through smarter systems, sharper stories, and stronger networks.
Each chapter had its own rhythm, but the thread was always this: I build where technology meets human systems. And I design the bridges in between. That’s what I care about: distribution as a design problem. Not just how things are sold, but how they spread — across cultures, org charts, and attention spans.

What I Care About
-
Ever sold something before it existed?
I once raised $300K from a fake product. No code. No pitch deck. No features. Just a simple landing page and a 15-minute call. What closed the deal? Not the idea. Not the “vision.” It was how I read the buyer. Selling isn’t about what you say. It’s what you sense. That’s why founders who know how to sell raise faster, build better, and survive longer.
-
Are entrepreneurs born or made?
My 7 year old surprised me... She insisted on setting up a lemonade stand so that she could buy herself LEGO! She decided to lean in on 'Organic' with farm fresh lemons and recycled cups. She decided to go ahead with 'pay as you please'. I am sure - entrepreneurs are made. Get your basics right. Take one step at a time.
-
Side projects are real gold.
1MG was initially started as HealthKart Plus. It was a side project to help people find substitutes. The idea received a great response because it was useful. It was super powerful thus it went viral. Today 1MG and HealthKart both are big successful companies. Don't keep your side ideas on the side.
-
I prefer taking risks.
Freshworks went IPO. 1MG did a deal with Tata. In both, I had ESOPs. 10 lakh worth of ESOP today can become 1-2 crore in a decade. Did I get lucky? No! But I was able to find a great idea, great people and invest my time. Taking the first big jump is always scary but also the most rewarding.

Family Business or Start-up?
I have worked in my family business, and have also created successful start-ups. I wanted to get out of the shadow of family success. I did not want to take the easy way out. I knew my family business wouldn't grow after a certain point. I wanted to create impact.
